United States Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS) released a statement yesterday, June 12th, concerning new work authorization cards which are good for two years. The statement states that "applicants are only eligible for a two-year EAD if their immigrant visa availability date retrogresses (i.e., when actual demand for visa numbers exceeds forecasted supply) after the Form I-485 is filed. If an immigrant visa number is available, USCIS will grant the one-year EAD."
Consequently, the two year work card only applies to an immigrant if she has a pending adjustment ("green card") application and a visa is no longer available. Otherwise applicants with pending adjustments will continue to receive the one year work authorization card. Go to the link below for further information.
